Dutch King Apologizes for His Country’s Role in the Slave Trade It’s great that he did this, but, as Linda Nooitmeer, the chairwoman of the National Institute for the Study of Dutch Slavery says in the article: “…apologies for the Dutch role in the slave trade are still about “160 years too late.” Also, no sign of even tentative plans for reparations, nowhere;

Marga Minco, Who Chronicled Jewish Life in Wartime, Dies at 103 And also after Wartime: here in The Netherlands, we like to forget that people returning from the concentration camps were more often than not met with outright hostility, theft of their belongings that they had left for safekeeping with friends or neighbours at the time of their deportation. And lets not forget the missed city taxes they were forced to pay once they got back to Amsterdam (this horror was acknowledged officially and “fixed” in 2016, 7 whole years ago);

Abortusklinieken zien vaker jonge vrouwen die anticonceptie wantrouwen I’m posting the Dutch article, as I did not find a suitable article about this phenomenon in English. In short: abortion clinics in The Netherlands are seeing more young women who don’t want to be pregnant, but who also do not trust hormonal birth control, the most generally used form of birth control here in The Netherlands. This mistrust ties in with the whole trend of shunning everything that is not “natural”, which completely disregards that not everything that is “natural” is also healthy. There’s quite a bit of very “natural” poisons out there.
And yes, I agree that here in The Netherlands, hormonal birth control is often prescribed as a cure all for all womb related issues, and that that is maybe not the best way to go. Also, there’s a strong focus on particular kinds of hormonal birth control (third generation oral contraceptives and the hormonal IUD) in favor of other kinds that may be more suited for somebody’s particular situation (think birth control shots, or a pill with only a particular type of hormone). This however does not mean that all hormonal birth control is “crap” by definition.
Not wanting any form of hormonal birth control is a choice every person is free to make, there’s many other options, condoms (available in all sizes and materials) are just one of them. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with getting an abortion, I’d imagine that most people who don’ t want to be pregnant would rather prevent a pregnancy than terminate it, if only for practical reasons. Just remember that Natural Family Planning is cool and all, if you don’t mind running the risk of getting pregnant at any moment: no matter what anyone on TikTok says, the temperature method is best used as a way to try and increase your chances of conceiving. If you don’t want that to happen (right now), you’ll need to find a contraceptive method that actually works;
The ‘night luxe’ aesthetic: Instagram and TikTok’s post-wellness vibe shift It is truly a mystery to me why I’m so attracted to this aesthetic: I don’t drink, I’m a glutenfree vegetarian (vegan when possible), and I don’t smoke or do drugs, and have no plans to change any of these things;

Americans Head to Europe for the Good Life on the Cheap I wouldn’t call 2500 euros in rent cheap; it’s an obscene amount of money. And by paying these prices, they destroy the housing market for locals. Also, the whole “lives in Lisbon, travels to Florida regularly for work” is truly absurd;
